Maillaro, Morganstern Qualify for State Primary Ballot; Adams Does Not

Denver, April 1, 2020 – The Elections Division of the Colorado Secretary of State’s office announced today that Matt Maillaro, Democratic candidate for District Attorney for the 18th Judicial District, and Donna Morganstern, Democratic candidate for State Board of Education for the 1st Congressional District, have each collected the required number of signatures to appear on their party’s June 30 State Primary ballot. Nathan Adams, Democratic candidate for Colorado House of Representatives District 6, did not submit the necessary number of valid signatures and will not appear on the ballot.

Candidates for District Attorney are required to collect 1,000 signatures (or 10% of votes cast in the last election, whichever is smaller) in their district, while candidates for State Board of Education are required to collect 1,500 signatures (or 10% of votes cast in the last election) in their district, a requirement outlined by 1-4-801, C.R.S. Maillaro submitted 1,030 valid signatures, while Morganstern submitted 2,133, both clearing their respective thresholds.

Candidates for Colorado House of Representatives must collect 1,000 signatures (or 30% of votes cast in the last election) in their district. Adams collected 910 valid signatures, falling short of the threshold.
