Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold Speaks at National Federation of the Blind National Convention

Denver, July 9, 2021 - Secretary of State Jena Griswold was honored to join members of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) as one of the featured speakers at today’s 81st annual NFB National Convention. The Secretary was invited to speak after the extensive work of the office’s Elections Division with NFB’s Colorado chapter to ensure the state’s elections are accessible to the blind and visually impaired.

“Access is the bedrock of Colorado’s elections and that means access for all voters,” said Secretary Griswold. “I am honored to speak at the National Federation of the Blind’s annual National Convention and discuss the many ways Colorado is working with the NFB to make elections accessible for all.”

In her remarks, the theme of which was ‘Transformative Partnership: Colorado Raises Expectations for All Blind Americans,’ Secretary Griswold discussed the passage of the Ballot Access For Voters With Disabilities bill, which removes barriers for blind and visually impaired voters to return electronic ballots. The remarks also included new technologies aimed at assisting blind voters like BallotTrax and TXT2Cure.

The National Federation of the Blind is the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans. Founded in 1940 and currently headquartered in Baltimore, the NFB consists of affiliates, chapters, and divisions in all fifty states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico.
