Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold Joins Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman in Bipartisan Request for Additional Federal Election Funding

Denver, August 28, 2020 – Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold today joined Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman in a bipartisan request to Congress to urgently include additional election funding in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The request letter, addressed to Speaker Pelosi, Minority Leader McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader McConnell, and Senate Minority Leader Schumer, outlines the challenges that many states face in conducting elections during the COVID-19 national crisis. The letter requests funding so that all states can efficiently conduct safe elections this November, including the increased implementation of mail ballots. It also requests that any funding exclude a state match requirement, which is onerous to many states whose budgets have been impacted by the crisis.

Both Secretaries have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring that elections run smoothly, not only in Colorado or Washington, but nationwide, and ask that Congress do the same.
