Proposed Initiative #295 (“Voter Approval Requirement for Creation of Certain Fee-Based Enterprises”) Qualifies For 2020 General Election Ballot

Denver, August 24, 2020 – The Elections Division of the Colorado Secretary of State’s office announced today that Proposed Initiative 295 (“Voter Approval Requirement for Creation of Certain Fee-Based Enterprises”) obtained the sufficient number of signatures and has qualified for the 2020 General Election ballot.

The “Voter Approval Requirement for Creation of Certain Fee-Based Enterprises” Initiative submitted 196,090 petition signatures, needing 124,632 valid signatures to qualify for inclusion on the 2020 ballot.  After reviewing a 5% random sample of the submitted signatures, the Elections Division of the Secretary of State’s office projected the number of valid signatures to be 138,852, greater than 110% of the total number of signatures required for placement on the ballot. These requirements are outlined by Article V, Section 1 (3) of the Colorado constitution.

The initiatives approved for the 2020 ballot at this time are Senate Bill 19-042 National Popular Vote Referendum, Initiative 76 (“Citizen Qualification of Electors”), Initiative 107 (“Restoration of Gray Wolves”), Initiative 120 (“Prohibition on Late-Term Abortion”), and Initiative 306 (“State Income Tax Rate Reduction”).
