Donna Lynne makes governor's ballot, Tyler Stevens on in CD5
DENVER, April 20, 2018 -- Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced today that Democratic Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne has successfully petitioned onto the primary ballot for governor, making her the last gubernatorial hopeful to have the signature process completed.
Earlier today, the office announced the status of two Republican governor candidates: former state Rep. Victor Mitchell made the ballot, while businessman Doug Robinson did not. Robinson plans a court challenge.
Statewide candidates are required to gather 1,500 valid voter signatures from members of their own party in each of Colorado’s seven congressional districts for a total of 10,500 signatures. Lynne collected 11,733 valid signatures.
In addition, Republican Tyler Stevens, who is challenging U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, has successfully petitioned onto the ballot in the 5th District. Here are the numbers for Stevens, the former mayor of Green Mountain Falls:

The Secretary of State's office earlier announced that former Sen. Mike Johnston, a Democrat, and state Treasurer Walker Stapleton, a Republican, had successfully petitioned onto the ballot for governor, but Stapleton withdrew his petitions and successfully got on the ballot at the Republican assembly Saturday, as did former Parker Mayor Greg Lopez.
At the Democratic assembly on Saturday, former state treasurer Cary Kennedy and U.S. Rep. Jared Polis received enough delegate support to get on the ballot. Polis had turned in petition signatures, but the review process was halted after his assembly success.
The candidates are vying to replace Lynne's boss, Gov. John Hickenlooper, who is term limited.
Our office is still reviewing signatures from four Democrats, Brad Levin and Amy Padden, who are running for attorney general, Jonah Weiss who is running for Senate District 34, and House District 5 candidate Joel Judd.
Our office issues a news release after a candidate's signature review is completed, and also updates a list of petition candidates posted on the Secretary of State's web page. The June 26 primary ballot must be set by April 27.
