"Yo Decido" aimed at empowering Hispanics in Colorado

DENVER, March 22, 2018-- Secretary of State Wayne Williams and Telemundo Denver/KDEN-TV announced this week the launch of a statewide voter registration campaign aimed at Hispanics, "Yo Decido."

Hispanics make up 21 percent of Colorado's population. The campaign will inform and encourage Hispanics to register to vote by providing resources such as the Spanish-language online voter registration portal, www.VayaVotarColorado.com, and in-person voter registration at KDEN-TV registration events.

“We work to make voting easy for Coloradans and l’m proud that Colorado has the highest percentage of registered voters in America," Secretary Williams said. "Our website is available in both English and Spanish and we welcome this collaborative partnership with Telemundo Denver to further increase voter participation."

Talia Bond, a board member on Denver's ACCESO Spanish Language Voting Advisory Board, appeared on “Desde El Capitolio” Wednesday with news anchor Carlos Rausseo on behalf of the Secretary of State's office to talk about the launch of the Yo Decido voter registration campaign. (See attached photo).

“We are pleased to partner with Colorado’s Secretary of State to increase awareness about the importance of civic participation among Hispanics in Colorado,” said Andrés Chaparro, president and general manager of Telemundo Denver. “Through our ‘Yo Decido’ voter registration campaign, our audiences will be able to stay informed about the issues that matter to them. If you’re interested in participating in this year’s elections, you can simply visit any of Telemundo Denver’s events and register to vote on-site and in-person."

Telemundo Denver delivers news to Spanish-speaking audiences across all platforms, including on-air, digital and mobile app. Telemundo Denver will also air a weekly news segment “Desde El Capitolio,” “From the Capitol,” at 5 p.m. Wednesdays on “Noticiero Telemundo Denver.” Rausseo will feature interviews with candidates and discuss the latest political news.
