Appointment to the Bingo-Raffle Advisory Board

Who appoints the Board members?

Members of the Bingo-Raffle Advisory Board are appointed by the President of the Colorado State Senate and/or the Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. One of the board members is appointed jointly by these officers.

How many members are there?

The advisory board consists of nine (9) members:

  • Three (3) members of the board are bona fide members of a bingo-raffle licensee that is classified as:
    • a religious organization,
    • a charitable organization,
    • a labor organization,
    • an educational organization, or
    • a voluntary firefighter's organization
  • No more than one member will be appointed from each classification.
  • One (1) member of the board is a bona fide member of a bingo-raffle licensee that is a veteran's organization.
  • One (1) member of the board is a bona fide member of a bingo-raffle licensee that is a fraternal organization.
  • One (1) member of the board is a supplier licensee.
  • Two (2) members of the board are landlord licensees.
  • One (1) member of the board is a registered elector of the state.  This person is not employed by or an officer or director of a licensee, does not have a financial interest in any license, and does not have an active part in the conduct of or management of games of chance by any bingo-raffle licensee.

How do I ask to be appointed to the Board?

To request appointment to a vacant position on the Board, submit a cover letter and resume to the appointing authority for the position.

What does "appointing authority" mean?

"Appointing authority" means the person who has the power to appoint people to certain positions.

Who is the appointing authority for each position?

Bingo Raffle Licensees:

  • Two (2) are appointed by the Senate President.
  • Two (2) are appointed by the Speaker of the House.
  • One (1) is appointed jointly by the Senate President and the Speaker of the House.

Supplier Licensee:

  • One (1) is appointed by the Senate President.

Landlord Licensees:

  • One (1) is appointed by the Senate President.
  • One (1) is appointed by the Speaker of the House.

Registered Elector:

  • One (1) is appointed by the Speaker of the House
