Description of Subjects/Issues The Epidemic and Communicable Disease Control rule names the communicable diseases and related events that are reportable to the Department and local public health agencies, in order to protect the public’s health. The rule also details the manner in which these conditions must be reported, includes language about access to pertinent medical records, and outlines public health’s authority to conduct investigations. The intent of the proposed amendments here is to update the list of reportable conditions to better allow the Department to respond to emerging issues and align this rule with current practices, including advances in surveillance techniques, prevention, diagnostics, and the treatment of communicable diseases.
