Statutory Authority |
Pursuant to §42-8-104(1), CRS, the Chief of the Colorado State Patrol has authority to promulgate rules necessary to implement the enforcement of applicable statutes and regulations concerning commercial motor carriers, owners and operators through the operation of Port of Entry weigh stations on public highways within the state of Colorado. |
Description of Subjects/Issues |
Amendments are being proposed to ensure compliance and consistency with state law and federal regulations. The amendments here proposed to these rules by the Colorado State Patrol Port of Entry Branch clarify when the Port of Entry may release a detained vehicle, address ambiguities in existing definitions, and update provisions relevant to the Special Revocable Permit Program. |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
To adopt rules and regulations for the purposes of regulating the size and weight of commercial vehicles operating within the state of Colorado, to protect infrastructure and to collect assessed taxes and fees on behalf of the state of Colorado as is appropriate. |
