Description of Subjects/Issues |
The proposed amendments update the list of reportable conditions, make outbreaks reportable by laboratories, propose language to clarify when an outpatient laboratory is required to report to the Department and includes technical changes throughout the rule that are intended to align rule language with language in 6 CCR 1009-7, Detection, Monitoring and Investigation of Environmental and Chronic Disease. The Department seeks alignment of these rules to bring clarity, consistency and completeness to end users as both rules have the same stakeholders. |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The proposed amendments name the communicable diseases that are reportable to the Department and local public health agencies (LPHAs), in order to protect the public’s health. The rule also details the manner in which these conditions must be reported, includes language about access to pertinent medical records, updates the list of reportable conditions, makes outbreaks reportable by laboratories, clarifies when an outpatient laboratory is required to report to the Department and includes technical changes throughout the rule that are intended to align this rule language with language in 6 CCR 1009-7, Detection, Monitoring and Investigation of Environmental and Chronic Disease. The Department seeks alignment of these rules to bring clarity, consistency and completeness to end users as both rules have the same stakeholders. |
