Description of Subjects/Issues |
Due to concerns about the process for parents to excuse students from state assessments, per HB15-1323, at the request of the State Board of Education, the department recommends that the Rules for the Administration of the Accreditation of School Districts (1 CCR 301-1) be amended to specifically address the policies required through state statute. |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
Section 3.05 of 1 CCR 301-1 Rules for the Administration of Accreditation of School Districts. To codify the assessment provisions in H.B. 15-1323 requiring districts and the institute, as a part of their accreditation contracts, to provide assurances that they will:
1. Not impose negative consequences on the student or parent if the parent excuses his or her student from participating in the state assessment; and
2. Not impose an unreasonable burden or requirement on a student that would discourage the student from taking a state assessment or encourage the student’s parent to excuse the student from taking the state assessment. |
