Description of Subjects/Issues |
To consider the promulgation of amendments to 5 CCR 1005-4, Newborn Screening and Second Newborn Screening. |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE or Department) is requesting that the Board of Health amend 5 CCR 1005-4 to remove Pompe disease screening. After the September 2015 rule making hearing, the Laboratory Services Division (LSD) fiscal services staff performed further analysis of the Newborn Genetics Fund expenditures and revenues. LSD determined the costs to screen for Pompe disease beginning in July 2016 were greater than originally projected, and therefore would result in the Newborn Genetics Cash Fund balance being depleted within the first two years of implementation.
This rulemaking (tracking #2016-00115) reverses the rule promulgated in September 2015 (tracking #2015-00466). Tracking #2015-00466 was to be effective July 1, 2016; with rulemaking #2016-00115, rule #2015-00466 will never take effect. |
