If you didn't get your "blue book," here's how to get one

DENVER, Oct. 10, 2018 -- Colorado voters receive "blue books" before an election, highlighting ballot measures and judges on the ballot. This year, however, there have been a couple of problems.

A printer's data processing settings defaulted to physical addresses instead of mailing addresses so in 36 counties where residents get their mail via Post Office boxes the books were not delivered. Other voters received their blue books but pages were missing.

The Colorado Secretary of State's office does not issue the blue books -- that is done by the legislature's nonpartisan Legislative Council. They report that 90,000 books have been resent and county clerks have been supplied with extra books.

But because our office has received a number of inquiries from the media and citizens, we are advising voters on how to receive their blue books if they didn't receive one.

Blue books are available online. Here is the link to the blue book.

Contact the Legislative Council. E-mail bluebook.ga@state.co.us.

The blue book describes the 13 statewide ballot measures, the pros and cons for each and fiscal impacts. The books also contains a section on the judges up for retention, and whether they met or failed to meet performance standards.
