Secretary Williams to serve on NASS board

DENVER, July 16, 2018 -- Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams has been reappointed to serve on the executive board of the National Association of Secretaries of State.

The appointment was made official today when Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos took over as president of NASS, succeeding Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson, who now serves on the board as past president.

Williams is one of two at-large members on the board; the other is Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. Williams also has served on the executive board as western region vice president and as secretary.

Condos is a Democrat, Williams a Republican.

"I’ve seen firsthand how Wayne Williams has worked across the aisle to bring people together," Condos said today. "Wayne works with both Democrats and Republicans to protect our nation’s elections and to ensure the right to vote. That why I asked him to serve again on the NASS executive board."

The National Association of Secretaries of State wrapped up its summer conference today in Philadelphia. Founded in 1904, it is the nation's oldest, nonpartisan professional organization for public officials.

"I'm gratified that my colleagues across the country recognize what our county clerks in Colorado see: that I am committed to fair elections where partisan politics play no part," Williams said.

NASS holds its winter conferences in Washington, D.C. The summer conference next year will be in Santa Fe, N.M. Williams is credited with bringing the 2020 summer conference to his home, Colorado Springs.
