Secretaries of state headed to Colorado Springs in 2020

DENVER, Feb. 20, 2018 -- Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams is happy to announce the National Association of Secretaries of State will hold its 2020 summer conference in the city he has called home for more than a quarter of a century.

In pushing for Colorado Springs' selection, Secretary Williams touted its natural wonders, including Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak. He also pointed to its man-made attractions, such as the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel and U.S. Olympic Museum.

"I'm thrilled to welcome my fellow secretaries of state and other election officials to American's Olympic City," Williams said. "Colorado is a wonderful place to visit and I encourage them to bring their families and explore the rest of the state before or after the conference."

The event will be held in July at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. The specific dates have not yet been chosen.

"We are thrilled and honored that Cheyenne Mountain Resort, a Dolce Hotel, will play host for the 2020 NASS conference," said Jess Johnson, director of sales and marketing. "We are extremely excited that Colorado Springs was chosen as the destination of choice and look forward to showcasing our property after a $13 million renovation."

The National Association of Secretaries of State, or NASS, just concluded its winter conference, which is held annually in Washington, D.C. At that meeting, members selected Colorado Springs as its host city in two years. NASS will meet this summer in Philadelphia and next summer in Santa Fe.

"Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region are truly honored to be chosen as the destination for the 2020 National Association of Secretaries of State annual summer conference," said Doug Price, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau. "As Olympic City USA, we're primed to show off our amazing venues, breathtaking backdrops and unrivaled hospitality to the nation's oldest nonpartisan professional organization for public officials."
