Colorado wins NASS IDEAS Award for eLearning program

"We want to be a partner in our customers’ success"

Denver, Colorado, July 15, 2014 - At its annual summer conference today, the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) presented Secretary of State Scott Gessler with the IDEAS award for Colorado’s eLearning program (PDF). The NASS IDEAS (Innovation, Dedication, Excellence & Achievement in Service) Award is voted on by the entire NASS membership, representing state-wide elected officials from across the country.

"Our eLearning program takes proven technology and uses it in creative ways to serve our customers," Secretary Gessler said. "We want to be a partner in our customers’ success; whether you are starting a business, raising money for a charity or running successful elections, we are here to help."

The Secretary of State’s office has used a new eLearning platform to deliver content across the many programs in the office. The program helps the office meet its mission to proactively serve the people of Colorado. In some cases, the online courses save time and money for customers and staff. In other cases, they provide content that was simply not possible to deliver before.

Colorado was picked as the winner from a pool of finalists that included entries from Nevada ( Digital Operating Agreement Application), Oregon ( Oregon's Records Management Solution—ORMS) and South Dakota ( South Dakota TotalVote Election Management System).

The award comes on the heels of the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA) awarding Colorado with their Merit Award for the office’s innovative customer Service Center in May.

A representative sample of courses is available online—all courses are free and open to the public. For more information about NASS and the NASS IDEAS award please visit www.nass.org.
