Description of Subjects/Issues |
The proposed rules implement the expanded scope of practice for all EMS providers, as passed in SB19-052. The proposed rules also update the medical acts EMS providers may perform and the medications they
administer. The modifications align Colorado’s rules with the national scope of practice adopted
by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), reflect the current standard of
EMS practice, and recognize EMS’s role in public health initiatives such as Hepatitis A vaccinations
and COVID-19 testing. |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The revisions implement the expanded scope of practice for all EMS providers, as passed in SB19-052. The proposed rules also update the medical acts EMS providers may perform and the medications they administer.
