Statutory Authority Colorado Revised Statutes, Sections 24-4-103(6), 42-2-101(8)(a).
Purpose/Objective of Rule During the COVID-19 pandemic and due to offices being closed for a period of time, Colorado residents who cannot renew their credential online or by mail due to no fault of their own will receive an automatic extension. Colorado residents who are between the ages of 21 and 65 whose credential expires between 03/18/2020 and 05/31/2020 will receive an automatic extension of their driver license (DL) and commercial driver’s license (CDL) credential for a period of sixty (60) days. A letter will be mailed to the address on file informing the customer of the extension, and that they do not need to take any further action at this time.
