Additional Information
Statutory Authority Article XXVIII, Sections 3(13), 8, 9(1)(b) of the Colorado Constitution. Section 1-1-107(2)(a), C.R.S., (2018).
Purpose/Objective of Rule Amendments to Rule 10.17, temporarily adopted on 3/29/2019, regarding campaign finance contribution limits, will expire on 7/27/2019. Temporary re-adoption of the rule is necessary to prevent a gap in the rule until it may be adopted and effective on a permanent basis. The Secretary of State issued a Notice of Permanent Rulemaking on 6/14/2019. Rule 10.17 is necessary to comply with the requirements of Article XXVIII, Section 3(13) of the Colorado Constitution. The Constitution requires contribution limits to be adjusted for inflation every four years beginning in the first quarter of 2007. The Secretary of State’s Office must calculate this adjustment and specify the new limits in rule.
