| Description of Subjects/Issues |
The purpose of the proposed amendments to Operation of School Transportation Vehicles, 1 CCR 301-26 and Annual Inspection and Preventative Maintenance of School Transportation Vehicles, 1 CCR 301-29 is to streamline and consolidate rules, clarify rules, eliminate redundant rules, and reduce regulatory burdens on school districts.
The proposal is to conduct rulemaking to repeal these two separate rules and reenact a single, consolidated set of rules. The purpose of these rules is to adopt and enforce regulations governing the reasonable and adequate standards of safety for the operation, maintenance and inspection of school transportation vehicles that promote the welfare of the students and afford reasonable protection to the public.
This set of rules was approved by the board in June 2016, however, due to a technicality, the rulemaking process was not completed and must be started over. In July the board approved emergency rules to ensure the single set of rules were in place throughout the school year in order to avoid confusion. |
