| Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The proposal is to conduct emergency rulemaking, consistent with action taken at the June State Board of Education rulemaking hearing. At that time, the State Board voted to repeal these two separate rules, Rules for the Operation of School Transportation Vehicles (1 CCR 301-26) and the Rules for the Annual Inspection and Preventative Maintenance of School Transportation Vehicles (1 CCR 301-29), and reenact a single, consolidated set of rules. Due to a technicality, the rulemaking process was not completed and must be started over. As such, the normal rulemaking process would not be completed until well into the 2016-2017 school year. It is advisable that there is a single set of rules in place throughout the school year in order to avoid confusion.
The purpose of the proposed rules is to:
Streamline and consolidate rules
Reduce regulatory burdens for school districts
Clarify the rules where appropriate |
