Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) has a statutory obligation under Section 16-8.5-101, et seq., C.R.S., to provide competency evaluations for persons charged with criminal offenses. Revisions to the current rules would allow CDHS to employ additional evaluators as contractors to provide competency evaluation under an active purchase order or personal service contract. In allowing contractors the ability to perform competency evaluations, wait times for competency evaluations will decrease and more beds will be available for individuals in need of inpatient mental health services at the Colorado Mental Health Institutes. |
