| Description of Subjects/Issues |
The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comments on proposed amendments which establish a definition for ?school health authority?; clarify language regarding who is responsible for securing and completing the official Certificate of Immunization; modify Table 1 and its footnotes to reflect best practice standards of the ACIP and make necessary editorial chgs. |
| Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The purpose of the rules is to provide clarification to the current rules to better inform and provide immunization guidance. The proposed changes include:
1)Creating a definition for ?School Health Authority? (Section I) who is one of the individuals mentioned in the BOH rules and is listed in the signature portion of the Certificate of Immunization; 2)Clarification of who is specifically responsible for providing the Certificate of Immunization to the school; 3)Rearrange the order of the vaccines in Table 1 to replicate the order of the vaccines in the ACIP schedule, and adjust the vaccine age and grade recommendations to moreclosely replicate the ACIP vaccine schedule; and 4) Clarify the language in the footnotes of Table 1 for easier application and remove symbols ( e.g., > ) that may be confusing to non-medical readers of the rules. |
