| Purpose/Objective of Rule |
Statement of Statutory Authority, Basis, and Purpose
Sections 24-4-103(6) and 12-2-104(1)(b), C.R.S. authorize the State Board of Accountancy (?Board?) to adopt emergency rules if the Board finds that the immediate adoption of the rules is imperatively necessary to comply with state law or for the preservation of health, safety or welfare and compliance with the requirements of Section 24-4-103, C.R.S. would be contrary to the public interest. Section 12-2-109(1)(a)(II)(A), C.R.S (2010) authorizes the Board to promulgate rules regarding the experience requirement for licensure as a certified public accountant.
Effective July 1, 2010, amendments to the Accountancy Act broadened the acceptable experience for licensure as a certified public accountant. The rules set forth the specific experience requirements, including verification of such experience, for applicants.
The purpose of the rules is to establish the specific experience requirements for licensure and the requirements for verifying such experience. The rules allow a candidate to submit for the Board?s consideration experience gained through employment in government, industry, academia, or public practice. |
