Description of Subjects/Issues |
Amendments to Rules and Regulations Pertaining to Epidemic Communicable Disease Control, Regulation 8 - Reporting of Diseases Among Animals. The proposed amendments establish a clearly outlined process for exemption of rabies vaccination of animals required by C.R.S. 25-4-607(3). |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
To establish a waiver process whereby a Colorado veterinarian may exempt the animal from rabies vaccination if the owner consents to the exemption and the vaccination is medically contraindicated. The rules also provide for an exemption form developed by the department. See statement of basis for more details. |

Although 6 CCR 1009-1 is promulgated by the Colo Bd of Health, the Executive Director has the statutory authority to enact the rules that establish the rabies vaccination exemption. |
