Description of Subjects/Issues |
Amendments to Chapter XXIV, Medication Administration Regulations, primarily in response to new legislation requiring that: 1) facilities conduct background checks prior to employment of each person not licensed to administer medications, 2) qualified administration staff members retake and pass the Department?s competency evaluation at least once every five years, and 3) the Department maintain a listing of all persons who have passed the competency evaluation on its web site. |
Purpose/Objective of Rule |
The main purpose of these amendments is to incorporate new statutory requirements(SB 09-128)for unlicenses medication administration staff members and the facilities that employ them. The amendments also refine the regulations to address current practices and situations that arise in the administration of medication by unlicensed persons, and technical corrections to statutory references that have been renumbered since the existing rules were promulgated in 1992. |
